You may have seen on my instagram that for mine and my husbands 4th anniversary we went to New York to celebrate! Everything we did was such a blast–but both of us had one favorite! We were able to get tickets to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon! I’ve had so many questions on exactly how we got tickets so I thought it was about time I explained!

Getting Tickets

Firstly, tickets are free! So not only do people want to see the show, but they don’t have to pay to do it! Tickets can be hard to get. The first week of the previous month tickets are released for the entire next month. I looked at our calendar and knew that the only day we could go would be on July 15th, 2016 and I had to request tickets on June 7th, 2016. I created my 1iota account beforehand to make sure I was all ready to go and set a little reminder on my phone to get on my computer the minute I could request them! It was 11am NYC time, and that was 9am in Utah for me!

So I went to tonightshowtix.com when I was ready to get on the waitlist and went down to the calendar, clicked on the show taping for July 15th, and then I just waited! They sent me an email saying I’m on the waitlist and that they would let me know two weeks before the show.

I waited and waited and finally on July 3rd I got the email that I was confirmed for two tickets!!! I was seriously SO excited I screamed! My husband was just as thrilled as I was too!

Going to Jimmy Fallon

The day of the show we landed in New York at about 5:30 am with little to no sleep from our red eye. But the last thing we wanted was to be falling asleep during the show–so we got some rest during the day! We didn’t have to check in to 30 Rock until 3:30, but you can start lining up at 3. So we got there at about 3:10 and wish we would have gotten there ten minutes earlier! We were waiting in line forever and I was nervous the whole time that it was going to be full! Turns out we would have been fine but my nerves could have used the time.

We went through security, waited in the Peacock lounge for almost an hour, and then they started taking us to the studio! My husband, Dave had an aisle seat and we were together. I think about 30 standby’s got in and they would get split up, but they said they started waiting in line at about 2:30 am that day! So I’m even more glad we got confirmed tickets beforehand!

The show was incredible, The Roots, Higgins, and of course, Jimmy were all amazing! Blake Lively and Rachel Maddow were his guests and they were so cool! We laughed so hard, we clapped so much, and we screamed and yelled our hearts out! Jimmy Fallon answered questions while Good Charlotte setup and we even high fived him after the show! It was a once in a lifetime experience and it was so amazing!

All in all, you can be like us and plan and KNOW you’re getting in, or you can wait in standby at 3 am for 6 hours and maybe get in. It’s doable, but the way we did it was so much easier!

Hiliary wants to help you tell your story.

One of the things that’s so amazing to me about my job is that I get to help business owners make their dream business a reality! Hiliary is a photographer, home flipper, traveler, home stager, wife, and wonderful mother to the CUTEST little ham, Mina! I’m very used to having a lot going on all at once, so I know how Hil feels! But being an entrepreneur is just that. Balancing all the good because you get to choose to do what you’re doing. I was really inspired by Scandinavian countries for her brand and she happens to have been to those countries and wrote a little blog post for us about it! Read 3 Reasons Scandinavia Should be at the Top of Your Bucket List!¬†I love all the natural colors and how clean everything is. So we named it, The Oslo.

I was so happy to help Hiliary tell her story!

Here’s a little peak at the custom pricing guide I made for Hiliary! I loved the way we pulled in the hexagons we used in her website and the shiplap as well.

I am SO excited to have my first guest post here at Waverley Design Co.! As much as I’d like to travel the entire world, I unfortunately haven’t done that yet. So I’ve decided to get some of my favorite business ladies together to give you all travel tips that I can’t! My first guest is Hiliary Stewart. We are working hard over here working on her new site and brand and it’s been so fun to see it all come together. She’s an amazing photographer and everything she does she goes all in. She runs two amazing businesses and finds time to live the life she loves. Everything Hiliary writes here echoes so true to me and my entrepreneurial heart. So without further ado, here’s Hiliary’s “3 Reasons Scandinavia Should Be at the Top of Your Bucket List.”

I worked a 13 hour shift (on my feet the entire time) the day before I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about hard work, but this was a turning point for me. My husband Brenan currently owns a house renovation company, is a licensed realtor, and helps me run my photography and home staging businesses. We’ve been self employed for two years, and this is what allows us to truly live the life we want. We don’t have to get all our errands done “after business hours” when its impossible to get anything done because the traffic. We set our own schedules. Have you ever tried going to eat at the fancy restaurant at¬†4:00 P.M.¬†on a Tuesday instead of Friday night? It truly is magical. In the last 18 months (can you tell i’m a mom too) we have been on 20 flights, driven 113 hours, visited 7 states, and 5 countries. Financial freedom, family, and traveling (on a budget) are the goals that have molded our everyday life into what it is today.

My favorite trip this last year was visiting¬†Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Even though its a BIG world with so much to do, I’m already planning our next trip back to Scandinavia. Here’s 3 reasons Scandinavia should be at the top of your bucket list:
file13015_Waverley_Design_Co_Web_Design_Branding_Brand_Graphic_Design_Website_design_Hiliary_stewart
1: Norwegians get 5 weeks paid “holiday”, and they all take it in the summer.
What does this mean for you? It’s like you have the whole country to yourself. Have you ever been to a beach city in the winter? A college campus during spring break? It has this intimate feel that you can’t replicate any other time. When we hiked “The Pulpit” our bus driver said normally 20,000 people hike it everyday but that week only 3,000 people were there.
file12825_Waverley_Design_Co_Web_Design_Branding_Brand_Graphic_Design_Website_design_Hiliary_stewart
2: Norwegians learn English in school.
Have you ever had that insane culture shock while visiting another country? You don’t have to worry about this with Sweden and¬†Norwaybecause pretty much everyone speaks English. I had to really work on Brenan to speak Norwegian while we were there, and most the time people would switch to English because they could tell I couldn’t understand what they were saying.
file13137_Waverley_Design_Co_Web_Design_Branding_Brand_Graphic_Design_Website_design_Hiliary_stewart
3: Easy to submerge yourself in the culture.
One of my biggest dilemmas while planning a trip is how to visit the country. You’re spending a lot of money getting there, its understandable that you want to get the most out of your trip. You don’t want to get stuck in all tourist traps, but most the time the touristy things are the coolest, thats why they’re “touristy”. We didn’t have this problem with¬†Norway¬†at all. My MIL stayed back from the hike and walked all around the city. She talked to some old Norwegians about the culture and they were so friendly. One of the cities we went to didn’t even have taxis. We walked 12 miles in the country that day and learned so much about the people.

If you’re still not convinced you should bite the bullet and head to¬†Norway, here’s some pictures to convince you.

I’ve worked with Alexandra for over a year now as a photographer for her blog, so when I launched Waverley and she asked me to do her new website and rebranding I was so happy to! Alexandra is unlike anyone you’ll meet–she’s goofy and cute and so spunky! Her brand really needed to match her style and her personality. I think we did that so well! Really the only thing Alexandra told me was “I want a lot of rose gold” and the rest was up to me! As time went on I would change things based on her suggestions or needs but I am so happy with the outcome!

When getting inspiration for her brand I realized I was getting drawn a lot to scenes in San Francisco. The pastel colors, how cute and busy it is all at the same time. Reminded me so much of Alexandra. So without further ado, let me introduce you to Finding Alexandra and her brand.

Business Cards

One of my first encounters with Alexandra was taking her pictures while I was still working as a photographer, and she had this sweet little Fujifilm instax that she was doing a giveaway as a partner with them! So when I started thinking about what her business card should look like–I just knew it had to be polaroid styled! She loved the idea and it came together perfectly!

Instagram Templates

Something that I think can get overlooked with a business is what you’re posting on social media to match your brand. And when it comes to photos and content that can be fairly simple, but when you need to post a quote, a model call, or anything else like that, it’s awesome to have a template to work off of to make it your own, but still share what you need to! These types of templates are awesome for those things!

Here’s the inspiration board for Alexandra Cale’s new website! I’ve had so much fun getting this all together over the last few months! You can see all our inspiration on our pinterest board we shared! You can also see the credits for the images there. Alexandra is a super fun fashion and lifestyle blogger–I was so happy to get to be part of her rebranding!
