The Colors:

Lime Green and Pink

Green and pink together is so fun! It was perfect for this awesome florist too! The color pink represents femininity, nurturing, and sweetness. Green showcases nature, hopefulness, and growth! So green and pink for a floral business brand is perfect in my eyes.

The Business:

Blooms to Bouquets

Haley runs Blooms to Bouquets, her grandfather’s love for the garden inspired her to work at a flower shop. She got her start in floral designing at 18 years old. It didn’t take her long to decide that she would run her own floral business one day. In the last flower shop she worked in, before starting Blooms to Bouquets, she was the top wedding designer. Haley did everything from the consultations to ordering the flowers and then designing the floral pieces as well. Now she is running her own business doing what she loves! I’ve worked with her in my past life as a photographer, and she’s always my go to florist whenever someone needs a recommendation!

The Entrepreneur:

Haley Rodgers

Haley is the face behind Blooms to Bouquets and she is so talented! One thing I notice and LOVE about Haley is that she knows how to hustle. She networks, works late into the night, and pulls off a lot of amazing things. She knows how to pitch her business and make a great presentation. Not being shy or being afraid to put yourself out there counts when you’re running a business! And she is so good at it!

I asked Haley what keeps her inspired and what keeps her going when it feels like too much, she said,

“People keep me inspired. Specifically, if I get overwhelmed while working on a wedding flower order I remind myself that I have been given the honor of adding beauty to someone’s BIG day, the biggest day of their life. I work hard to make a bride smile and help make their wedding day be everything they dreamed of. Above all though, it’s my younger sisters I ‘keep going’ for. I want to show them, and anyone who needs encouragement, that with hard work, perseverance and by following your heart you can find success.

The Colors:

Yellow and Navy

If you read my post about complementary colors, you understand that you find complementary colors by finding the opposite colors on the color wheel. I love yellow and blue together! Finding different shades and hues of the same color is an awesome way to stay true to your brand, but also add some depth. Universally, yellow is synonymous with the sun and happiness. These ladies are a bright ray of sunshine, so it was so fitting! We were laughing the whole time and just clicked right away! Blue symbolizes confidence, trust, and strength. These confident ladies made me feel so comfortable (and awesome) during our shoot and my interview on their show!

The Business:

Wasatch View

Joan Dunn and Angie Erickson run Wasatch View, it’s a weekly lifestyle show on standard.net and features what is going on in Northern Utah! I love each of their videos, they’re thought out and really useful. I reached out to these ladies because they’d worked with a few of my clients and friends and I thought they would just be fun to meet and such a good fit for this project! They were so nice to come and dress up for me, then they invited me on their show! It was a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. If you’re a business owner around Ogden or know something cool going on around here, you should contact them– they’re a blast!

The Entrepreneurs:

Angie and Joan

These ladies both worked for the Standard Examiner when they realized a new dream they had! Some entrepreneurs start what they do because they see a need that needs to be filled, and they want to make the rules of their jobs! These amazing women fit that bill. They wanted to create a lifestyle vlog that could help people find out what’s going on around them and can help the locals here!

I asked Angie and Joan what the best part of creating their own jobs was they said,

“The flexibility our job offers as well as the amazing people we have met and the experiences we have had. Northern Utah is full of incredible people and businesses! We love showing people what is right in their own backyards!”

The Colors:

Orange and Blue

Continuing on with our Complementary colors, I love this textured orange wall I found. I found a few different blue walls, and this orange wall too, and you’ll see that they all look so different even though they are the same colors! I love the way you can put this fun brand together with different shades and tones. We went with more subtle tones for this brand. I love the way orange and blue go together! See other orange and blue posts here and here! Blue can symbolize confidence, faith, and strength. Orange is mentally stimulating, enthusiastic, creative and friendly! I am so happy Cheree agreed to be part of this project, especially these colors that I think embodies her and her brand so well!

The Business:

Dash of Salter Blog

A Dash of Salter is run by the fabulous and beautiful, Cheree Salter. I love her blog and her style! She always keeps it so real and positive. Her blog is about learning to embrace the chaos of motherhood. She loves to document her life and all her passions along the way! She makes wall hangings and her hubby makes awesome mid century tables.

The Entrepreneur:

Cheree Salter

Cheree is the sweetest! We’ve worked together many times and each time I’m just so happy when I leave her side. She’s also freaking amazing and styling that great hair of hers! All around, Cheree is kind of a jack of all trades!

When I asked Cheree what she does if she ever feels like giving up, she said,

“Don’t get caught up in followers. And just remember why you started! It’s ok to take a break or time for yourself but if you really love what you’re doing just get back to it.”

The Colors:

Red and Green

If you read my post about complementary colors, you understand that you find complementary colors by finding the opposite colors on the color wheel. It can be hard to see these particular colors together and not automatically think of Christmas! But it all comes down to the way you use them in your brand. Using a muted version of a color, like my sweater, or using a pattern like April is can make all the difference for how people perceive your brand. I also chose to make green more of a pop of color, versus the main focus. The red in your brand can represent passion, emotion, youthfulness, and excitement! But it can also make people think of agression and anger, so be careful how you use it 😉 Green represents environmental, growth, and health! I really liked that we chose these colors to represent Sweet Ruby Co. It represents her and her business so well!

The Business:

Sweet Ruby Co.

Sweet Ruby Co. was started nearly a decade ago when April saw a need, and decided to fill it! She was getting so frustrated losing pacifier’s, especially in the middle of the night. Her kids were always dropping their blankets and binkys and she couldn’t find a solution out on the market. She wanted some sort of attachment but also wanted it to be cute and something she knew her kids would carry around.

April started to hand-make her own solution, and it turned out that others wanted in on it too!

The Entrepreneur:

April Maw

April is the master mind behind Sweet Ruby Co. and she is awesome! She’s sweet and talented and so much fun! I was so excited when she agreed to be part of this fun project with me. I immediately thought of her when wanting to go to a red wall because of her business name. She’s a wife and mother of four as well.

April emphasized to me to,

“Never compare yourself to others. Everyone goes at their own pace and it’s so easy to get lost in social media. Never worry about where they are and where you are. Just do what is right for you and your family.”

I am so thrilled to finally get this project off the ground! A few years ago I saw this post by House of Lars, and was SO inspired!!  I love lots of color, and as a designer and photographer, I am always looking for fun spots to take pictures for personal and client use. I started looking for colored walls in Northern Utah and found quite a few– I was so excited!

I wanted to create a master list to help other creative’s in my area to find colorful places for their work. Instead of just having a bunch of pictures of me in front of some walls I sought out the help of some other colorful faces to get the project off the ground. Each of these women is a business owner living in Northern Utah, you can see their individual posts linked with their pictures! I am so grateful to have people who are so passionate about what they do all around me. I tried to get them to come to places with me that matched their brand well.

Each one of these rad ladies are helping me show off complementary colors with the  that can be used for branding! You can see the full post about what complementary colors mean for you and your brand here.

Also, please be mindful that most of these places are places of business! I tried to go when they weren’t open as to not disturb the patrons.
